Crystic® 2.446PA polyester resin is a quick and easy to use polyester resin for lamination to glass fibre materials and for the formation of putty when mixed with glass fibre or various filling powders. Crystic® 2.446PA polyester resin is a Lloyds certified, pre-accelerated orthophthalic polyester resin with low styrene emissions, designed for hand lamination and, if necessary, spray application with special equipment. Crystic® 2.446PA polyester fabrics have low exothermic properties and a relatively fast cure.
The low cost makes this resin the most economical choice for the manufacture or repair of a wide range of parts, products and applications. Polyester resins are widely used in the automotive, boat and yacht industries, as well as in architecture, art and other industries. Ideal for the manufacture or repair of various parts in combination with glass fibre materials such as glass fibre mat, roving, fabric or biaxial fibre. Crystic® 2.446PA is a UV stable resin with reduced styrene emissions, which creates more favourable working conditions in the workroom compared to other polyesters.
Use
Before working, 2% Butanox M50 (MEKP) hardener must be added to the resin on a weight or volume basis, which must be worked out within a certain time according to the room temperature.
It is therefore recommended to dose it before starting work.
Curing – 24 hours (20°C).
To achieve the maximum mechanical properties of the resin and laminate, it is preferable to post-cure them for 3 hours at 80°C or 16 hours at 40°C.
